PREMIERE AUPAIR in  America

You want professional childcare to be your career. You may have a Montessori or Educare or other nursery school or day care  qualification or you may have been working in full time child care for two years or more already.  This program has been designed especially for you and recognises your special skills and abilities. You can choose to stay for an additional 3, 6 or 12 months either with the same family or a different family. At the end of your agreed stay you  can spend another month  travelling and exploring America with the friends you have made or joining one of the goAUPAIR travel excursions.

 You are only permitted to come to the United States once in this program, and it is the only legal means of becoming an au pair in the United States. 

WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE A PREMIERE  AU-PAIR IN AMERICA:

  • Work up to 45 hours per week including some evenings babysitting
  • Work a maximum of 10 hours per day, childcare and childcare related housekeeeping only
  • Your own private bedroom
  • Minimum one and half days free per week with one day being Friday, Saturday or Sunday. One full weekend per month.
  • Two weeks paid vacation.
  • Comprehensive health, medical insurance cover provided
  • US$500 provided by host family towards 6 credit hours of adult  education, American interest, courses. [About 6 hours per week]
  • WEEKLY pocket money of US$225.00.
  • Flight paid from Johannesburg  direct to the family.
  • Opportunity to take 30 days, after expiration of your visa, to travel around America.
  • Return flight paid from host family or gateway on West Coast to Johannesburg, provided you have remained on the program for the full 12 months.

To get onto the program:

  • You must be between 20 and 26 inclusive.
  • Must have passed grade 12 or the equivalent.
  • Must be a non smoker
  • A driving licence for at least six months
  • You must have either 
  • Completed either a full-time academic course in childcare OR
    Have two years full-time experience as a nanny, child care provider, or nursery school teacher
  • Be prepared to make a commitment to a family's child care needs.
  • Must have a DVD player and be prepared to watch 32 hours of interactive DVDs, as specified by the American State Department, within 8 days.

    What will this cost me? 

    You can apply at any time of the year. The earlier you put in your application the better your chance of getting a place for the arrival time that you want.
