What are living conditions like?
You will probably share accommodation with two or three other students to keep costs low. You can expect to pay $65 - $75 per week  for shared accommodation.  You can have a look at inexpensive options at www.budgetsuites.com

 

What will my  duties be?

Your employer will discuss these with you on arrival. As you speak a good English, you can expect to be asked to work in the casinos in positions such as sales, front desk, waitering, busking and deliveries, but it will depend on what jobs are available when you arrive.

How long is my contract?

You can work up to four months if you choose and no matter whether you work two, three or four months you can continue to stay and travel legally in the USA for a maximum period of five months.

Who can go?

To qualify for this program, you must be currently attending full time college or varsity and must be able to prove registration for full time study for at least one semester after you return. You are 18 to 28 years old. You can go with friends, on your own or as a couple!

What Protection do I have?

JCR will provide a group pre-departure orientation to all participants to prepare you for the program. Our American partner provide a counselor  as well as a 24hour emergency number. You will also have a comprehensive medical and travel insurance. You will be assisted to apply for an American Social Security Card. You will travel on a legal J1 work/travel visa.

Job Opportunities:

  • Qualified applicants with good English skills can apply for ANY job in the Casino! 

  • Apply for a position at the front desk, landscaping, human resources, maintenance, IT,  security, or as a bartender, engineer, or ride operator.  The sky is the limit!

  • All students must choose Food and Beverage or Housekeeping as their second choice

  • Food and Beverage- Food Handler’s Permit required, $40 registration upon arrival

  • Housekeeping- Great for applicants with low to intermediate English ability

  • Earn $5.85 - $8.50 per hour. Average 30-40 hours per week

  •  Food Server positions available with 3-6 months experience

    Bartenders & Casino must be at least 21 years old and have a social security number before starting

Employment Requirements:

  • Must be available from November to February, arrive early to get the best job!

  • Look professional, friendly, no long hair, visible tattoos or facial peircings

  • Ability to bend, push, stoop, lift, and reach and/or stand for long periods of time

  • Must purchase special certifications at an additional cost ($35-$125) upon arrival

  • All English levels (low to intermediate english acceptable for housekeeping jobs only)

  • Must be available to work all shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends

  • Show up to work on time and in perfect uniform (do not be late!)

  • No Social Security number required to start work (except bartenders)

  • Last applications 15th September 2006 . 30 places only.

  • Applicants accepted on a first come first served basis.  Full time students only
